The moment had played a million times before in Santana’s head. It turned out differently depending on the dream, the day she had had, what Quinn was wearing in class that day. But not even when she had rehearsed how it would go in her sleep had she imagined how quickly her heart would be beating, frantically and loud enough against her chest that she was sure Quinn could hear it from across the table. If this were anything else, Santana would have given herself an ass kicking for being this nervous. She was Santana Lopez. She could have anyone. She had had just about everyone the school had to offer as it was. But none of them had ever been Quinn. Maybe that was why she had had everyone in the first place. It was never a conquest, or a trophy cause. It had been Quinn she had wanted from the very beginning. Now she would have her or she would ruin it, but after three years of insults, fights, pretending… Santana had very few chances left. Taking a deep breath, she forced a smile across her face as best as she could before swallowing the lump in her throat that she was sure was bigger than the round, gold buttons on her abuela’s Christmas dress. She folded her clammy, shaking hands together, in hopes that Quinn hadn’t noticed, and lifted her eyes to meet hazel before speaking the words without any of the lines of preparation she had originally planned on… “I love you, Quinn.”

“The world never stopped loving you”

This moment always had and always will ruin Kurt a little bit for me. As someone who has overcome a lot himself, he is so quick to chalk all of Quinn’s problems up as meaningless because she’s the ‘pretty’ girl. His bad dye job comment, and tossing her pregnancy out the window as if it were a paper cut. Sure plenty of people have problems, and plenty of people deal with teen pregnancy and lots of other stuff that Quinn went through. But no one acknowledges all the underlying insecurities that Quinn has that are just the same as Kurt or Dave or anyone else in that glee club. Quinn’s pregnancy was a cover layer in which the multitude of problems she already had unraveled beneath. All of the adult figures in her life pushed her aside, and in essence ‘stopped loving her.’ Her own parents threw her out of the house, she was kicked off the cheerios, and even afterwards Will and Shelby both knew she was struggling and choose to leave her on her own. Quinn toughed it out, and survived by herself. Sure, she had the help of her friends, (namely Rachel) and the glee club, and even she acknowledged that and is appreciative of them for it. But when it comes to pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and doing what you have to with your life, that can only be done for yourself, and Quinn was strong enough to do that. The look on her face when Kurt makes that comment, breaks my heart. Because it’s as if with that one line, he discredits everything that she has worked so hard to make of herself. He then says ‘you got into Yale’ as if because of her accomplishments, all of her struggles were meaningless, like she didn’t have to work for it. What he should be saying, is that they should be praying for Dave, to give him the strength to do what Quinn did, and realize that there are some people that do love him, but that more importantly he needs to find the strength to love himself, and move on to bigger and better opportunities, as they all deserve.
